Crosswing is a striking Long Island residence that blends thoughtful design with innovative material use. Developed by Altmark Builders and designed in collaboration with Up Studios, it was conceived to feel truly alive. Contrasting siding orientations, shifting board dimensions, and a layered mix of wood, steel, and stone push the boundaries of design while showcasing precision craftsmanship and inviting closer study.
Every element of Crosswing reflects a deep respect for craftsmanship and the art of building with intent. Rather than relying on standard details or prefabricated solutions, the home was built through a process of customization and precision, with each reveal, joint, and plane carefully considered to complement the architecture’s rhythm.
“We don’t just build houses,” the builder explained. “We build something that’s going to last, something you can look at in twenty years and still feel proud of.”
The use of Accoya takes the build to the next level. Chosen for its dimensional stability, its minimal expansion and contraction rates ensure tight joints, clean lines, and long-term structural integrity even in fluctuating climates. This performance not only protects the integrity of Delta’s custom finishes but also preserves the architectural precision that defines the home.

Utilizing Delta’s Technical Guides
Altmark Builders approached the project with a single goal: to build the home with absolute precision. Before a board was installed, they immersed themselves in Delta’s Technical Guides, noting, “I actually studied. It’s like I attended a college course. Now I know everything about it.”
Following every instruction in Delta’s 50-page shipping and handling guide, explaining, “I did every single thing on those pages… I wanted to give the material the best chance possible. You always want to do what’s recommended, it protects the product, and it protects your work”.
Even the way the materials were packaged became part of this exacting process: “The way they package their material is incredible. Every subcontractor on the job was blown away. Everything arrived perfectly organized, that goes a long way when it comes to installation.”

One Wood, Infinite Expressions
The home’s exterior showcases the striking visual impact of Delta materials, especially in the way light interacts with the material. Featuring three widths of Accoya in our Ivory finish installed both vertically and horizontally, the siding shifts in appearance as sunlight hits it from different angles, though it’s all the same product: “It’s the same wood, just the sun at different times of day is hitting it at different angles. It fully changes colors.” Though unplanned, this playful transformation adds a dynamic quality to the façade.
Paired with stone sourced from Buechel Stone, the effect of shifting light and shadow brings the home to life, demonstrating how careful, precise installation can turn exceptional materials into a design that feels vibrant, layered, and full of depth.

Crosswing captures what happens when precision, patience, and performance come together: every board, joint, and finish reflecting thoughtful craftsmanship and a commitment to lasting quality. We’re loving watching the project take shape, each new detail revealing just how much care and expertise have gone into bringing it to life.
